Toyota Recall Safety Defects Lead To Personal Injury Lawsuit
A Virginia man, retired Army Colonel Harry Williams, has filed a lawsuit against Toyota Motor Corporation, according to Los Angeles personal injury law firm. The suit alleges that Williams suffered serious injuries because of the safety defects in his Toyota automobile.
Williams’ personal injury attorney, Robert J. Nelson, stated in the complaint submitted to court that “… Toyota for years was aware that its vehicles were susceptible to sudden unintended acceleration, leading to fatal accidents.” The complaint further charges that Toyota neglected to deal with the problem until very recently.
The automobile involved in the suit was a 2009 Camry which Williams had rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. As Williams approached an intersection in Woodbridge, Virginia, the car suddenly accelerated and collided with a Dodge Caravan. As a result of the crash, Williams lost consciousness and suffered numerous injuries to the head, neck, back, and leg. He also suffered a traumatic brain injury which to this day continues to negatively impact his cognitive, speech, and memory abilities.
Given the millions of cars subject to the Toyota vehicle recall, this case will be watched closely by automotive industry insiders. Stay tuned to slip-and-sue for additional details as the case unfolds.
